Build Your Own Site...
You can build your own site and save a lot of money instead of paying someone else to do it.
Of course it will take you a lot more time, but if you can follow directions, and are patient, then you can build
your own website.
Building a website or online business can be a daunting task and even overwhelming to the beginner because there
are so many choices to make.
The internet is glutted with millions of "pretty" and flashy websites that are practically invisible to
people searching for products and services because the search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.) don't index
or see these sites.
The webmasters that built these "invisible websites" don't understand or care about the basics of search
engine optimization (SEO) which includes thorough keyword research and serving good content to the search
engines.
Sadly, many of these individuals and companies spent thousands and thousands of dollars on these useless
websites.
And if you are going to build your own site, you don't want to spend money and time building a site that does
not bring you the kind of traffic that is interested in what you are selling, right?
No, of course not. Instead, you want an attractive and easy to navigate website
that draws lots of traffic, because traffic means sales and money in your pocket.
We remember how overwhelming it was when we started to build our own websites.
Here are some excellent website building resources and tools
that are absolutely essential for anyone that wants to build a website that brings them
traffic...
FREE eBook Downloads: Here are some excellent free ebooks for anyone interested in building their own website and online business.
All-In-One Website Building: If you don't want to
deal with the complexities involved with building a website, then I highly suggest you use a website building
system that offers everything you will ever need under one roof. An all inclusive site building
system like this might cost you a little bit more per year than the resources listed below, but the
convenience, time and hassles saved with an all inclusive website building system are invaluable to anyone that wants to concentrate on their
online business instead of getting bogged down with complex details.
Keyword Research Tool: People type into search engines like
Google to find things. You must find out what the words are that will bring people to your
website. For example, if you are selling XYZ Widgets, then you will need to research and find out what all
the different and appropriate variations of the keyword "XYZ Widgets" are...and then build pages for
your site that use those keywords. You can pay to advertise your site, but that still requires keyword
research, but you should know that free search engine traffic (also known as natural or organic search engine
traffic) is the best and highest quality traffic you can get. I could show you an expensive $200.00 keyword
research tool, but this free keyword research tool is better. :-)
Register a Domain Name: A domain name is the name of your website, like:
www.MyWebSite.com. You will need to register your domain name with what is known as a domain registrar. For the
sake of SEO (search engine optimization), some search engines might rank your site a little better if you
include keywords in your domain name that are appropriate to the theme of your web site.
Web Hosting: All websites require a web host. A web host
is an online source that stores all the pages of your website so they can be seen on the internet. You
want your web host to offer all the features you will ever need, and your webhost must have excellent customer and technical support.
Website Building Software: Some website building software
programs (or HTML Editors like Dreamweaver), are difficult to use and take forever to learn. You
want a website building program that is super easy to use, and extremely powerful with every
possible feature that you will ever need.
Email Autoresponder: Most people searching for products and
services online will come to your site and either buy what you are offering, or they will leave and never come
back. You want to make your site more "sticky" by devising a simple way to keep them coming back...for
two reasons. One reason is to obviously buy what you are offering now -- and the other reason is to
hopefully buy what you sell in the future. One of the best ways to keep them coming back to your site is to
offer a free online newsletter that is automatically sent to them via email. And that is why you will
need an email autoresponder account.
Once again, if the above resources seem too complex, or you just don't want to hassle with all the
details, then I highly recommend you check out an all in one website building system.
