eCPM: Effective Cost Per Thousand, hybrid version of CPC auction, which is calculated by
multiplication of the CPC by CTR, then multiplying the product by one thousand. (Represented by: (CPC x CTR) x 1000
= eCPM). This monetization model is used by Google to rank site-targeted CPM ads (in the Google content network)
against keyword-targeted CPC ads (Google AdWords PPC) in their hybrid auction.
Ecommerce: When commercial transactions are conducted over the Internet for goods, information
and/or services that are purchased or sold there.
Editorial Review Process: The review process of potential advertiser listings that are
conducted by search engines to check for relevance and compliance with an engine’s editorial policy. It may be an
automated process – using a spider for crawling the ads – or it may be conducted by human editorial ad reviews or
it may a combination. Not every PPC Search Engine conducts listings reviews.
